Give me a chance

Once on a hot summers day stood I gazing up at the sun. I looked at the thousands of people swimming at the shallow end of the beach and I eyed them enviously. I wasn’t a great swimmer myself. In fact I was quite the worst. My dad had always said to me, “Keep trying. When your mind sets itself into a more positive thinking manner, you’d surely get much better.”

I took one last look at the happy swimmers squealing in excitement and I turned my face away. Watching the other kids swim marvellously was pure torture to me. Especially, when they pointed at me and laughed as if I was a sort of person who could do nothing. I felt terrible, angry and ashamed. So far NOBODY had given me a chance. And if they did, they walked of with their mouths open thinking I was a fat lot of good.

WHAT I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT!
Did the character (main) have strong emotions?
How could she persevere better at swimming?
How must he/she be feeling when everybody’s laughed at her?

NOW YOUR JOB IS TO…

If you see anyone who is upset as this, let them know that you are there for them, to comfort them as well as support them.
