Mr. Kurt droned on with the rest of the scientific experiment.

“And now you simply pour some water into the plants,” He was saying.
Maratha stared blankly at the white board, feeling a vague of uneasiness with the whole subject.

“MARATHA!” Barked Mr. Kurt. “I assume that you know very well about photosynthesis then, don’t you? Well, class, Maratha will explain the whole process here about photosynthesis, where green plants use light as an energy source to turn carbon dioxide into food.” He added, with a note of sarcasm.

Heads turned in Maratha’s direction. She blushed red, fidgeting with her hands.

“Um… Plants require oxygen and glucose to survive.” Maratha mumbled, casting her eyes down on Mr. Kurt’s well polished shoes, avoiding the frosty look on his face.

“I see. Gathering by my observations Maratha, you are not laudable, and you certainly will never shine in anything.”

And smiling his callous smile, Mr. Kurt walked off leaving Maratha to a teary afternoon.
