Amanda, the famous film star’s eyes brimmed with tears as she walked elegantly out of her posh accommodation towards the lobby, showing off her new pair of moccasins. It was seldom that anyone caught her in such an emotional state. The hotel manager with a parcel in his hand staggered in her direction, almost losing balance at the sight of the popular star skimming lightly across the lobby. She received the parcel from the dazed manager and tore it open, gasping loudly.
“Oh my, it’s the most charming accordion! Thank you, Mr. Lee!” The hotel manager smiled shyly at the golden vision.
“I do beg your acceptance of this gift from our hotel, Ms. Amanda. I hope this portable wind instrument is to your approval?” The hotel manager seemed to accentuate each syllable as he spoke in excitement.
Before Camellia could criticise this eccentric TV programme further, the television screen went blank and Camellia found herself staring at her enraged mother. Never had the old dame looked so crimson, Camellia thought secretively to herself. She had a feeling that she would be in peril with her mother.
“And WHAT are you watching at this time of a day, Camellia? You deserve to be quivering like a blancmange watching a non-educational television programme at this time of the day!” Camellia’s mother let out a loud hiccough and Camellia tittered rather unkindly. However, this proved fatal.
“I simply will not tolerate this kind of behaviour, Camellia! In comparison to your humorous friend Kaylee, you certainly are desiccated in all subjects at school. You can go up to your room and spend the rest of the day doing maths or anything educational.”
“But…” Camellia protested lightly. She guessed that her mum was snappy and restless after lack of sleep from training accountancy. Still, it wasn’t fair for her mum to nag at her.
Camellia realised that it was simply pointless to argue with her mother especially when she was in a grumpy mood. She knew that she couldn’t acclimatize to this blazing goddess, and decided that it would be best to simply succumb.
